Michael Jackson Speaks Out Against File Swapping Legislation

Tuesday July 22, 2003
Last week I posted a blurb about a new bill in Congress which proposes jail time for those found to be harboring illegal files on their computers (see What We Need Are More Laws!). Michael Jackson speaks out against the draconian ACCOPS (Authors, Consumer and Computer Owners Protection and Security Act of 2003) bill. I have to agree with King of Pop on this one. The jails are already over-crowded with far more insidious criminals and even many who questionably shouldn't be there in the first place. We certainly don't need to spend tax money to build more federal penitentiaries to house all of the Kazaa and Morpheus users.
