Acxiom Consumer Data Stolen in Inside Hacking Job

Friday August 8, 2003
Acxiom is one of the world's largest consumer database companies- housing private and confidential information on millions of consumers from many different clients. The company was unaware that any information had been compromised until an Ohio law enforcement agency contacted them. The stolen customer information and the alleged hacker are currently in custody. The person in custody is a former Acxiom employee who had limited access to the database servers and used that access to crack the passwords of other clients and get unauthorized access to other customer data. For more information on the Acxiom hacking incident you can read this article on SiliconValley.com: Hacker accessed customer information, Acxiom reports.
