Zone Labs Releases Security Tool For Instant Messaging Programs

Wednesday August 13, 2003
It seems that almost everyone has instant messaging of some sort. It is quite common these days for people to exchange IM handles or nicknames along with names, phone numbers and email addresses as a standard means of communication. However, as much as these programs might aid productivity and enable communication, they also provide a huge security risk to the PC's they run on and the networks they're connected to. Many corporations have banned the use of instant messaging software to protect the network. There are companies out there that are developing products specifically aimed at providing secure instant messaging- but they tend to be proprietary or require that everyone install different software. Zone Labs has just released IMSecure Pro which is also available in a scaled down free version for personal use (IMSecure Free). IMSecure has the benefit of working seamlessly and unobtrusively in the background with existing IM client software such as AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Instant Messenger and MSN Messenger. For more information about this new Zone Labs product you can read this article from Newsfactor.com: Zone Labs Launches IM Security Tool.
