Hacking Cisco Routers - Part One

Monday September 29, 2003
Mark Wolfgang has written the first in a three-part series of articles for SecurityFocus.com regarding how to exploit vulnerabilities to hack into Cisco routers. Answering the question "why Cisco only?", the author says "we chose to focus this article on Cisco routers due to their overwhelming market share." The article provides good details of the commands and tools to use to identify and infiltrate poorly configured routers. This information isn't meant to teach you how to break the law by hacking into systems you shouldn't be in, but it can be put to use to perform legitimate penetration testing or by network administrators trying to identify weak areas they need to protect.
