National Cyber Security Summit Attempts to Refocus Government
Wednesday December 3, 2003
In stark contrast to the previous blurb (Tech Firms Lobby Against Government Regulation), security experts, elected officials, and business leaders are holding the National Cyber Security Summit in Silicon Valley to try and focus the government's attention on cyber security issues. While some firms lobby the government to back down and stay out of regulating cyber security, many companies and elected officials don't feel the government is doing enough to protect this vital resource. The director of Homeland Security- Tom Ridge- will be present as the summit attempts to get the government to put their money where their mouth is and start to put some funding behind the initiatives outlined in the National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace.
