Microsoft Releases MS04-004- A Critical Patch For Internet Explorer

Sunday February 8, 2004
Last week Microsoft released their cumulative patch for Internet Explorer. The MS04-004 Security Bulletin broke the new monthly release schedule Microsoft has been adhering to for security patches, but then again the patch was two months late by some measurements. This patch, which is cumulative and therefore includes all previous patches, repairs three new vulnerabilities which are rated anywhere from moderate to critical depending on which verison of Windows and which version of Internet Explorer you are running. There was some uproar due to Microsoft disabling the ability to include the username and password within the URL to authenticate with sites- but Microsoft has vowed to put security before features and they say this was the right move. To get all the details on this new Internet Explorer patch, or to download it and apply it on your system click here: Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-004.
