With the release of the highly anticipated Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) there have been a barrage of reports of holes, flaws and vulnerabilities with the update. Now, there are actually some real issues as well and corporate administrators as well as home users need to do their homework before installing it and may do well to hold off for a couple weeks and let the dust settle, but many of these so-called "flaws" are greatly exaggerated by people trying to make a name for themselves as security researchers or trying to get the big scoop in the media. Often, the bottom line for many flaws and vulnerabilities comes down to the user. If the user knows and follows basic security principles then these issues pose no threat at all.
