Prevx Offers Free Intrusion Prevention for Home Users

Sunday September 5, 2004
Prevx released a Home version of it's host-based intrusion prevention system (HIPS) which is available for free for personal use. Unlike most other IDS (intrusion detection systems) and IPS (intrusion prevention systems) on the market, the Prevx Home software does not require any signature updates. Prevx claims that the Prevx Home IPS will protect your home and home office computers against Zero Day Internet Worms, Spyware Installations or Hacker attacks. To download the free IPS software you can visit the Prevx web site: Prevx Home. I will post a more detailed description and a review of the product later this week.
