Forums: Can Viruses Transmit Through Instant Messaging?

"I have 5 networked PC's and one of them is constantly coming up with viruses. It's also the only one that uses AOL Instant Messaging.
If someone that you talk to or that talks to you on any I.M. is virused, can they infect your PC?"
