Understand The Attacks To Defend Against Them Effectively

Along the same lines as the last post where I recommended that you perform ethical hacking, or penetration tests, of your own network in order to really understand where the holes in your security are, it also pays to be familiar with the tricks and tools used by attackers so that you can defend against them more effectively. This is the premise of books such as Hacking Exposed, Counter Hack, Hack Attacks Revealed and others.
