Host-Based Intrusion Prevention

Many companies consider intrusion detection or prevention to be a more or less mandatory component of a solid, layered security solution. There are different methods for monitoring intrusions. You can place an intrusion detection or prevention device on the network (network-based) to watch the network as a hole, or you can place an intrusion detection or prevention solution on individual servers or computer systems (host-based).
