WiTopia Offers Free Wireless Security

Wireless networks continue to spread like wildfire, but understanding the security issues surrounding wireless networks and how to protect wireless networks from being compromised lags woefully behind. There are free tools available to help you secure and protect your wireless network and I have written various articles and tips to help guide users, such as Wireless Network Security For The Home or my free WiFi Security 101 eCourse, but now there is a free service that promises to do the work for you. I learned from Brian Livingston's Windows Secrets Newsletter about a startup company called WiTopia offering free wireless security. The service includes protection for 1 access point and up to 5 users. The annual fee of $29.95 is being waived through the end of this year so users can get a year of protected wireless access at no charge. For more details about the WiTopia service, check out the information on their site about the SecureMyWiFi service.
