Anti-Spyware Coalition (ASC) Defines Spyware

Monday July 18, 2005
The Anti-Spyware Coalition (ASC), which includes companies such as AOL, Computer Associates, Dell, EarthLink, F-Secure Corporation, HP, Lavasoft, McAfee Inc., Microsoft, Panda Software, Symantec, Trend Micro, Webroot Software, Yahoo! and more, was formed with the goal of building a consensus about definitions and best practices in the debate surrounding spyware and other potentially unwanted technologies. They have come out with a draft document defining the spyware threat as well as some other supporting documents. The document is open for public comment through August 12. To see what they have come up with or throw in your 2 cents, see their Spyware Definitions and Supporting Documents PDF file.
