Have you received an email this week from eBay, Citibank, Paypal or some other financial institution or commercial entity claiming that there is some sort of issue with your account information and luring you to a web site to "verify", "validate" or otherwise update your information? Odds are VERY high that it was not a legitimate message, but actually a phishing attack designed to steal your personal information such as your name, address, Social Security Number, and account information and passwords. Phishing attacks have skyrocketed in the past year or so and remain a consistent and serious threat to those who don't know how to recognize and avoid them.
