Foundstone's FPort is a free utility you can use to identify unknown, open ports and map them to the applications that are using them. This can be valuable for troubleshooting bandwidth or processor hogging programs as well as for security purposes to help identify suspicious open ports. To learn more about this free tool from Foundstone, a division of McAfee, click here: Profile: Foundstone FPort. If you are intimidated by command-line driven utilities and would prefer something of the point-and-click variety, Foundstone Vision is FPort, repackaged with a graphical user interface.
