Protecting Data With Windows EFS

Microsoft Windows XP (other than the Home edition) has the ability to securely protect your personal files using EFS, or Encrypted File System. Encrypting files or folders with EFS is simple enough. But, once they are encrypted, only the personal EFS key that was used to encrypt them can unscramble them again, so steps must be taken to protect the EFS certificate and key.
