Layered Security: In-Depth Defense

The only 100% secure computer is one that is turned off. No single aspect of computer or network security is effective against every type of attack. By using a few different security products together, you can eliminate the vast majority of attacks. My computer is so secure that the networking won’t even work. It keeps giving me \\laptop\ you are not authorised etc messages. I have enabled everything I can think of! there is no point in all this security if the damn thing won’t operate as a result

I agree with you 100%. There definitely has to be a balance between security and functionality or it makes the computer useless. However, your comment does not provide enough information for any productive feedback or troubleshooting. I recommend that you post a thread in the Netsecurity Forums and provide more details about how many computers you have, what operating system(s), how they are networked, what security software you are running and what you are trying to accomplish. I am sure you can get an answer that way. Good luck!
