Stopping Pop-Ups

Monday June 12, 2006
Surfing the Web is sometimes slow and irritating enough. You don't want the added frustration of pop-up, pop-under or any sort of 'pop' advertising cluttering up your screen or robbing network bandwidth that could be used to get you the information you want faster. Some pop-up ads may even disguise links to malicious software that could install a Trojan, worm or other malware on your computer. Read Stopping Pop-Ups to learn how you can secure and protect your computer against these intrusive nuisances.

I agree it is somewhat ironic, but when I wrote the original article it was specifically to help my readers avoid that. I have no control over what About.com or its advertisers do, but I don’t see any pop-up ads when I visit About.com (or any other site), and I wanted to provide some tips and techniques for my readers so they can enjoy that same freedom.
