Viruses remain as one of the most commonly known threats to computer security, but the threat from viruses seems to be getting eclipsed by the threat of spyware and phishing attacks. More and more antivirus software vendors are including spyware and phishing detection in their products, but you can also refer to the articles below for some tips to help you avoid becoming a victim of spyware or phishing:

What do you think companies themselves could be doing more to alleviate the Phishing scam problem (particularly eBay, PayPal and numerous banks)? Warning customers is one thing, but there has got to be more…

I think that a key factor in protecting your networks and servers is actually having a documentation report of all the aspects of your system. I know of a freebie one that has helped me in recovery of my servers.
I’d reccomend it to anyone that wants their network and servers to be safe.

My question had more to do with the loss of brand/face when a business itself is constantly misrepresented by phishing scams. Consumer reports show that consumers lose confidence in companies whose names are used in phishing attacks, particularly banks. What can the banks themselves do better, outside of hoping their customers read any warnings about phishing on their website?
