Symantec Releases Internet Security Threat Report Volume XI

Monday March 19, 2007
The latest version of the Symantec Internet Security Threat Report covers the 6-month period from June 2006 to December 2006. The 104 page report contains a lot of detailed information about the trends and issues observed by the network security company over the second half of 2006. Notably, China has the most botnet infected computers in the world, and Beijing specifically ranks as the most bot-infected city in the world. The United States receives the dubious distinction of accounting for the majority of phishing scam sites, spam distribution, and credit card fraud. They note a sharp increase in zero-day exploits from previous periods and an overall increase in the number of vulnerabilities discovered, but more concerning is that the vast majority of vulnerabilities were both easily exploitable and remotely exploitable. You can learn more and get all of the details by viewing or downloading the report here: Symantec Internet Security Threat Report Volume XI
