Music-eating Worm

Wednesday August 1, 2007
I used to have a massive collection of CD's. Well, I actually *still* have a massive collection of CD's. However, the discs themselves are stored buried in a closet somewhere collecting dust. I have ripped them all to my computer, and added some other MP3 purchases, so that my entire music collection is available on my computer at the push of a button. A new worm could wreak havoc on my MP3 collection though. The Deletemusic worm spreads via USB flash drives and other removable media and deletes all MP3 files from infected machines. Because of the method of propagation, it is not a fast-spreading threat, but that won't make you feel any better if your computer is one of the infected ones.
