Weaknesses of Mobile Phone Web Browsers

Tuesday October 9, 2007
One of the 'cool features' of mobile phone Web browsers is the ability to initiate a phone call by clicking on a link. If you are looking for a certain store or restaurant in your Web browser, you can call them up by clicking a link rather than having to write the number down, exit the Web browser, and then manually typing the number in. It is very slick and convenient. Phones with Internet access and Web browsers, like the Apple iPhone, may be susceptible to a new generation of phishing attacks based off of this functionality though.
