Disrupting The Trade of Malicious Information
Friday October 19, 2007
Businesses use the Internet to communicate with partners, suppliers, and customers, and conduct transactions. Somewhere in the shadows, less legitimate enterprises and entrepreneurs are also communicating with their partners, suppliers, and customers, and conducting transactions. This "shadow" business is the underground where malware, vulnerability exploits, and other malicious attacks and information are bought, traded, and sold. Researchers at Carnegie-Mellon have proposed a method for addressing this threat by disrupting the ability for the various parties to trust each other enough to conduct business. Check out this blog post for a discussion of the proposed solution and its viability.
