Impenetrable, Unbreakable, 100% Secure

Tuesday April 8, 2008
...not gonna happen. I don't mean to be a nay-sayer. But, there just is no 100% solution. You take the reasonable precautionary steps you can to protect yourself, and you use an ounce of common sense. As far as I am concerned, that is the recipe. After that, you have to keep an eye on things and be diligent about detecting if some sort of attack has occurred or if your identity has been compromised in some way. One company recently marketed their solution as 100%, absolutely unbreakable security for your identity. LifeLock was so sure of their identity protection services, that the CEO, Todd Davis, published his social security number online and challenged anyone to try to steal his identity. They did. Sort of. One person managed to get a $500 line of credit in Todd Davis's name. LifeLock does seem to provide solid protection, however, according to this article, the protection has a limited scope and does not protect against all forms of identity theft. Hence, it is still not an impenetrable, 100% secure solution.
