Lifelock Sued Over Claims
Friday May 23, 2008
You may have seen the ads, or at least heard, that Lifelock CEO Todd Davis is so confident in his company's ability to protect against identity theft that he is comfortable broadcasting his social security number publicly. Well, on at least one occasion a perpetrator was able to get a cash loan in Davis' name. That was chalked up as a weakness in the information checking done by the lender. That isn't an isolated case though. Attempts have been made almost 90 times to compromise Davis' identity, and Davis has admitted that attackers may have been able to get drivers licenses in his name in some states. That is chalked up to poor fraud checking by the respective departments of motor vehicles. Well, individuals in multiple states have taken issue with the passing of the buck, suing Lifelock for misrepresentation of its services.
