It's That Time Again: October 2008 Microsoft Security Bulletins

Tuesday October 14, 2008
This was a busy month in Redmond. Microsoft released a bulletin for each month of the year...plus one to grow on for a total of 11. There was 1 Moderate, 6 Important, and 4 Critical Security Bulletins. For those keeping count though, Microsoft has a long way to go to reach the number of Security Bulletins predicted in the poll on this site at the end of last year. The highest vote getter was 'More than 100', but at this point Microsoft would have to unleash 17 per month for November and December just to reach 100. At this point, I would say that the total for 2008 will probably end up in the 71 to 80 range which only got 12% of the vote in the poll. To get more details about this month's 11 Security Bulletins, and links to download the appropriate patches or updates, take a look at October 2008 Microsoft Security Bulletins.
