Mac OS X Upgrade Crashing Systems

Wednesday December 17, 2008
There is some trouble in paradise. Apple Mac users who have downloaded and applied the latest operating system update are reporting a range of issues from trivial or minor inconveniences, to systems that are completely useless after the upgrade. For those who drink the "my-Mac-floats-on-water-and-can-cure-cancer' koolaid, this may come as a shock. Apple Mac users may want to hold off on installing the 10.5.6 update until Apple addresses the concerns and fixes it or releases a new update minus the flaws. Some users, arguably the 'lucky' ones, are not even able to apply the update to begin with. Instead, they are greeted with an error message that states "The update 'Mac OS X Update' can't be installed."

The easiest way to reinstall the update…..

Going to the HD/Library/Receipts folder and deleting the file for the 10.5.6 update, and then attempting the reinstall again.
