Independence Day is this Friday. The 4th of July is a time in the United States to reflect on our independence and our democratic way of life.

That leads to this week's featured article- Counter-Hacking: The Sequel which discusses recent comments by Senator Hatch proposing a system to let copyright owners wipe out or "destroy" your computer if you are found to be downloading illegal software.

The other article featured this week is about Stumbler- a new Trojan which has been performing massive amounts of port scans across the Internet with a trademark window size of 55808. Finding a machine that actually had the Trojan proved elusive though and even now researchers aren't sure they found the Trojan.

Things have been quiet while I was on vacation last week. Now that I am back there will be more new articles, book reviews and product reviews. I also hope we will have a good turnout for the chat session Thursday evening- but with Independence Day on Friday I assume many people will be on vacation themselves.

I hope everyone has a great week. For those in the United States- enjoy the holiday!
