Welcome back to another exciting week!

Companies have been kept VERY busy with patch management lately. Everyone scurried about applying the patch from Microsoft Bulletin MS03-026 yet when the MSBlaster worm came along it still found plenty of vulnerable systems to exploit.

This past week Microsoft released a couple new Security Bulletins. MS03-032 is particularly critical in that it allows an attacker to run malicious code of their choosing on vulnerable systems. If you haven't already done so, be sure to download and apply the patch for this vulnerability.

Product Review: SecurLock v1.3
For those who need a little extra security than what is provided by Windows the SecurLock v1.3 USB encryption key is a good choice. SecurLock requires that the USB key be physically inserted as well as a PIN number entered. The user can encrypt files and folders so they can't be opened without the USB key and PIN. If the USB key is removed the computer is instantly locked down until the USB key is replaced and the PIN number is entered. There are more security features which can be useful for those with confidential or particularly sensitive data they would like to protect.

New Security Bulletins from Microsoft
Microsoft released two new Security Bulletins this week. MS03-032 (Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer) and MS03-033 (Unchecked Buffer in MDAC Function Could Enable System Compromise). The MS03-032 patch fixes all previous Internet Explorer flaws as well as some very serious new ones which could allow an attacker to run malicious code on your computer or access files from your computer. It is highly recommended that all Windows / Internet Explorer users apply this patch as soon as possible.
