Welcome back!

A little slower week than some, but still a lot going on. There was a major vulnerability announced in Sendmail- the open source software that handles the majority of email on the Internet and the United States names its new Cybersecurity Chief.

The sign-ups for the Free Computer Security 101 Class have been phenomenal. I am gld to see so many people jumping in to take the class. Remember that you need to ensure that the email address you sign up with can receive the lessons each day though. There are a handful of people who have registered and are not getting their lessons because of their spam filters.

There were also a few new book reviews posted this week as well as some new Top Picks for Security Policy and Planning Books and for Firewalls and Perimeter Security Books.

Book Review: Secure Coding Principles and Practices
Mark Graff and Kenneth van Wyk have written a masterpiece. Secure Coding Principles: Designing & Implementing Secure Applications is a must read for anyone writing code or managers of anyone writing code or really just anyone involved with IT. The title may seem daunting, but the book is actually short and non-technical. Security concepts are discussed at a high level. Don't let that fool you though- this book covers the topic from beginning to end with plenty of examples and case studies to help illustrate the point.
