It seems that almost every time you open one web browser window 3 or 4 more pop-up or pop-under ads open with it. Legitimate and reputable sites use this as a means of getting an advertising message in front of you. Less reputable sites may actually execute malicious code or install spyware on an unprotected system through active scripting in the pop-up window HTML code.
