About The Book
Apple fans bring new meaning to the word "fanatic" at times. The following that Apple commands borders on (or exceeds in some people's minds) a cult. Apple helped not only to bring the computer revolution to the home market, but they created a corporate culture that breeds creativity and an environment that employees love to show up to.This is an updated version (hence the "2.0") which has been updated to include events and innovations through 2003. Linzmayer provides a thorough history and in-depth look at the culture of Apple and the "casual" corporate environment. It provides detailed timelines and background on the key players that have helped Apple evolve to where it is today.
Members of the Apple cult...I mean fans of Apple, or just fans of this book, can purchase an autographed copy directly from Linzmayer at www.appleconfidential.com.
My Review
This is an excellent book. It is exceptionally well researched, well written and easy to read. While the concept of detailing the history of a corporation may seem mundane or boring, Linzmayer and Apple both make this a different story.Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs helped to spark the home computer revolution when they invented the Apple I computer in a garage in Los Altos, California. Their computers have created a fanatic, cult-like following and some appear more like contemporary art or sculptures than actual computers.
Linzmayer provides detailed timelines illustrating the evolution of Apple and thorough inside information about the inner-workings of Apple, the comings and goings of its executive leadership, the evolution and creation of Apple's innovative product lines and more.
This book is a must read for members of the Apple cult...I mean fans of Apple computers. Anyone interested in computers or the history of the computer revolution will also find this book intriguing. It is an addictive read that you will find hard to put down.
