From the article: Free Software for Computer and Network Security
There are a lot of freeware and open source tools available to help you secure and protect your computer and your network. I have developed categorized lists of some of my favorites. I want your feedback though. Have you used these tools? What do you think of them? Which ones are your favorites? It has also been awhile since some of these lists have been updated. Are there tools you use that you think should be on these lists? Let me, and the rest of the community, know what they are.

- I could use as much help with protecting my computer as possible. I believed that Norton/Symantec was enough, and it should have been. I tried the new IE8, and I had nothing but problems, so I deleted it and returned to whatever form of IE I had been using. On Sunday, June 14, I installed the updates from Windows. Apparently these updates included updates and the installation of IE8. I thought I had deleted it, because of past problems, but I did a Point Restore, and I thought I'd get back the version of IE that I was using. No luck, so now everytime I open IE, I get an At Risk- Fix Now from Norton. I trust Norton, they have proven to be very reliable, but now, I can't trust Windows IE to be just as trustworthy. So when there is an offer for free software, which I hope can help save my computer from making me throw it out a window, I'll take it ! Like I said, I need help, and I know that for you to hear this you think I'm stupid . I waited a long time to get a computer, so I'm Causious!
