eEye Finds Worm Hole in Windows 2000

Sunday August 7, 2005
eEye Digital Security announced the discovery of a flaw in Windows 2000 which could be used to create a worm attack. eEye will not release any details about the vulnerability, but they did say that it affects a component which can not be disabled or uninstalled. With no short-term workaround, users are left with little choice but to wait for Microsoft to issue a patch or update. Unfortunately, Microsoft officially ended support of the Windows 2000 platform at the beginning of July so corporations and home users who rely on Windows 2000 will have to wait to see what Microsoft is going to do. For more details about the flaw, read this News.com article Worm hole found in Windows 2000.
