The Death Of Viruses

According to this article in The Register, normal viruses and mass-mailing worms seem to be all but dead. As malware has converged and organized crime has gotten involved in developing new attacks, the old-school viruses and worms are disappearing from the malware landscape. In years past, malware developers had a "carpet-bombing" approach designed to impact and infect as many systems as quickly as possible. However, organized crime has more to gain by staying covert and flying under the radar. So, new threats tend to be more stealthy rather than blatantly disrupting computer networks.
