Breaking News! Electronic Voting Machines Are Insecure

Saturday August 4, 2007
Oh wait! That isn't breaking news. It is *old* news that seems to be repeated every few months (or weeks), and yet many states continue to support these companies and purchase these machines. According to Techdirt, both California and Florida have identified security holes in Diebold electronic voting machines in the past week or so. Democracy is safe though (not), because these flaws are trivial things like hard-coded passwords of "1234567" and could only lead to fraudulent vote counts or tainted election results. Every vote counts. Try using yours to make sure your state does not deploy these insecure electronic voting machines, or your vote may not count in the future.
