Hunting Down A Problem

Tuesday April 8, 2008
Mark Russinovich, respected Windows expert and Microsoft Technical Fellow, recently posted a detailed description on his blog of the forensic investigation he did on his laptop to discover the process that was causing his CPU usage to spike. Using Process Explorer, he was able to track down the culprit and resolve the problem. You may not be Mark Russinovich, but the detailed explanation he provides on his site could prove useful if you run into a similar problem. If your system is slow and sluggish, it could be caused by a legitimate process or application, or it could be the result of malware hogging system resources. Using Process Explorer and the tips Russinovich provides in his blog, you can determine the cause and eradicate it.

Great article but your link to “detailed description” leads to the RSS feed of the blog.

Thankfully, the post in question was still the top post. :-)

Thanks for the heads up. I fixed the links to point to the post itself, and not to the blog RSS feed.
