eBlaster 6.0

The Bottom Line

The bottom line? Here is the bottom line- the only product I have seen that comes close to the features and value, the simplicity of use, comprehensive level of reporting and protection, and general peace of mind is SpectorPro, which is also from SpectorSoft. This is, hands down, the best product in this category.

Guide Review - eBlaster 6.0

Do you know what your kids do online? Really??

Your kids may be very mature and responsible, and you may have the utmost faith in their judgment. But, that is no guarantee. The Internet has a dark side and you can cross into it with the click of a mouse and possibly not even realize it. Would you give your kids the keys to your car without having some idea of where they were going, what they were doing, and when they plan to return?

The answer for you may be "yes", and that is your prerogative as a parent. There are certainly varying opinions and I don't claim to have a monopoly on the "right" way to parent- not by a long shot. I will say this though, I prefer the 'trust but verify' philosophy.

I trust that my kids are responsible and exercise good judgment online. But, I have eBlaster 6.0 installed and monitoring just in case. If certain keywords are used (profanity, violence, sexual terminology, drugs and alcohol, etc), I will be notified immediately.

I have activity reports to refer to if anything suspicious happens. I don't generally review them, because I do respect my child's privacy and individuality. But, if my child gives me reason to be suspicious, or ends up missing, I will have detailed reports of every email, every instant messaging session, every keystroke typed, every application run, and every web site visited- including every search done on the web. I have a treasure trove of information at my fingertips...if I need it.

The only product that comes close to eBlaster 6.0 is SpectorSoft's other consumer-level monitoring product, SpectorPro 6.0. I like eBlaster more though because of the emailed reports. That means no matter where I am in the world, I will still receive the real-time alerts and daily activity reports.

The $100 price tag isn't small, but I consider eBlaster, and my peace of mind, to be worth every penny.

eBlaster Scam - big ripoff, Member mdsrvs

The company sold me 2 software applications that were advertised at the same price - $99: one product (Spectorsoft) would record all activity on our kids' computer, and another product (eBlaster) they said would send me email with the same information. During the online checkout, it states that the products include a 1 year ""Ultimate Care"" package. No where in their ads or on the website does it say what ""Ultimate Care"" is, but it looked like the customer care package that many products, like Apple Computers, sell when you purchase a product. 1 year after purchasing eBlaster, the product quit sending me email about the activity on our childs' computer. What's more, they started spamming my inbox almost daily, saying that my product was no longer active and that I had to repurchase another year of ""Ultimate Care"" in order to make the software work again; in other words, I had to buy the product all over again at the same price. The only way I could stop getting spammed, they said, was to uninstall the product - you can't just unsubscribe. When I complained, the rep became defensive and hung up on me. Nowhere on the website does it say before you purchase it that the product will only work for one year. Nowhere does it say that eBlaster is basically the same product as Spectorsoft, but one sends you email and the other doesn't. If you want recordings and email notification, you buy both products. The defensive company rep told me that eBlaster could show me the computer's recordings, but I don't know if that's true. If it is, that means they sold me 2 products that do the same thing. If it's not, that means that they sold me a product that is worthless and unusable after 1 year. Either way, they were deceptive. Either way, they keep spamming me to repurchase the product they sold me a year ago.
